Circle Line Tour

Monday morning we woke up and walked to the west side of the island where the ports are (well - there are ports all around) but we walked to the Circle Line ports to take a 2 hour tour of the south end of the island - with the highlight being the Statue of Liberty/Ellis Island. Well - EVERYONE that was visiting must have had the same idea we had because it was packed. We got there almost an hour early and were in the back third of the line. While were waiting the kids noticed a splash area and begged us to go over there. We finally said fine. Well - they had a blast and got soaked at the same time.

It had some random patterns of water shooting up. Sometimes it would be all at once - others just one at a time. They loved not knowing and thinking they were going to make it through without getting wet!
Cameron thought he was safe - what we miss in the picture is that he got soaked right after that - right up his leg - he loved it!
Macie thought she made a good decision and then the whole fountain just exploded - she also got soaked!
Here they are - happy and wet. The breeze from the boat ride felt good and dried them off.
Here we are on the boat. We had pretty good seats - we sat 2 x 2 so the kids both had a 'window' seat. It was a hazy day in the city, smog I guess. For a sunny day to us - the pictures of the landmarks show just how bad it was.
This was our attempt to get the Empire State Building. We could see it clearly - the picture picked up the haze. It is still an amazing site, though. (Twice we tried to take the kids up to the top of it - but every time we went no matter the time - the line was out the door, literally, and around the building! crazy)
The beautiful Lady Liberty. They finally opened it back up where we can go inside - We will definitely do that the next time we go!
If you can see the shiny silver steeple - that is the Chrysler Building.
And the Brooklyn Bridge. We didn't get to walk it this year with the kids. I don't think they would have even made it up the ramp. IT IS HARD but fun!
And that was our Monday morning. The kids loved the boat ride and it is fun to be able to look at New York City from a different perspective and take time to look and talk about all that we saw!
