This has been an interesting week. Todd is off work so he is home with us. Cameron and Macie are at church camp and we are missing them terribly. In an effort to spend some fun times with the boys left at home and keep cool in this horrible heat and keep the expenses down – we planned a really fun day. We traveled downtown to Dallas and met Meema for lunch at Uncle Julio’s – yum! Thankfully we had a gift certificate. That made it even better! We went for a tour of her office space and the boys had a blast running around and meeting Meema’s co-workers. One of the higher-ups gave us a stack of coupons for free Slurpee's for later!! That was a big hit.
Then – we went to visit Papa Rick at the Fire Station. Collin had never been and he was pumped. We spent a little bit of time outside exploring the truck, engine and ambulance. Then Papa showed us all of his gear and even put it on for us. Then he let the boys try on the gear and they loved it! We went inside for water and explored all around some more. We saw where they eat, where they sleep and even played with Sissy the firehouse dog. The boys had such a good time. When we left Todd asked, “who wants to be a fireman when they grow up?” They both raised their hands!!! I’ll let the pictures do the rest of the talking!!
sitting in the truck …
trying on Papa’s helmet …
wearing Papa’s uniform …
big boots to fill …
all the Murphree boys in attendance …
Papa said it was too hot today. So – we are going to have another visit in the fall with all the ids and he is going to pull the truck out and put the ladder up and we’ll get to try that out also! I can’t wait!
I am sure I will be seeing this on one of my boys in the future (and if we do we will be SO proud)
It was the best day!

What a sweet day! I didn't realize your father-in-law was a firefighter.
