Our Storyteller

Every year the kids school participates in the PSIA (private school interscholastic association) competitions.  There are many events including: storytelling, math, science, writing and more.  Last year Cameron participated in Math and Macie participated in storytelling.  The three ACA kids that went for 2nd grade storytelling placed 1st, 2nd and 5th overall, Macie being fifth.

She was nervous to join the storytelling club this year because a ton of new people joined.  Cole even tried out on the first grade level, he made alternate.  They still have to try out at the school level before going on to district.  So – Macie was convinced she didn’t go through to district – but she did!  WAHOO!!

We were unable to attend the competition last year so Todd and I were pumped to go this year.  Macie did well in the first round (so she felt).  There were 12 kids total competing from all different schools.  It seemed like forever waiting for the posting of the kids going on to finals.

When they posted – her name was on it!!  In fact, she was the only 3rd grader from ACA to move on to the finals.  Talk about exciting – and nerve-wracking.  She had a hard time relaxing until the next phase.

I think she did okay in the relaxing department!  Kicking back getting a footrub from dad while listening to the radio does the trick.  She ended up doing well in the finals.  She placed third overall which is two spots better than last year.  We had such a good time and are so proud of you Macie!  Keep it up!
